2nd Annual MN State Fair in NY Day a hit!
It’s day 5 of the MN State Fair, and the 4-day countdown to my own cross-country journey to the Great MN get-together. By now, just about everyone I know back in MN has been.
In celebration and nostalgia, a large group of Minnesotans in New York trolled the streets of NYC to find all sorts of foods on sticks, sweet treats, and unnecessarily fried foods (Mars Bars???) on a recent summery Saturday.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there to join the fun, but I was impressed to learn that the day included at least 15 fanny-pack-wearing Fair lovers and 11 stops. The first order of the day was corndogs at Nathan’s, followed by a wide array of foods reminiscent of the Fair, including french fries, crepes, chocolate-covered bacon on a stick (hello, delicious!), a few stops for corn on the cob, an actual street fair, cookies and milk, fried cheese curds (findable in NYC – who knew?!) and topping off the day with a stop at Famous Dave’s BBQ in Times Square. Impressive!

I’m also loving their badges, which listed all the food venues, and assigned each attendee with Minnesota-inspired names, like Rose (Golden Girls reference gets 2 points!), Vern (my great-uncle’s name!), Pat, Deb, and other winners.
And I really love that Destiny (aka Kieley) was sporting one of our very own I “MN” NY t-shirts!

I hope all attendees recovered from all the calories and grease. I am certain it was worth it!
I would like some fried cheese curds, please. Donde?
