Har Mar SuperSTAR!

October 26, 2009

harmarHar Mar Superstar is back in full effect, on tour to promote Dark Touches, his first album since 2004’s The Handler. He’s got 2 shows in NYC, so no excuses on missing this. Har Mar Superstar is all R&B with indie rock roots in irony and self-deprecating super-bravado in excess.

Sean Tillmann, the man behind Har Mar Superstar, got his musical start with Calvin Krime (who played a reunion show at the Uptown Bar in Mpls last month) back in St. Paul, then formed indie-rock band Sean Na Na, but nothing compares to Har Mar. Named after Har Mar Mall in Roseville, MN, he started this project 10 years ago to have more fun with music, inspired by R. Kelly. His tracks are addicting with Jackson 5 and Prince soulfulness, Justin Timberlake-esque beats and his amazing vocal talent singing ridiculously cheeky lyrics. I’ve got “Tall Boy” on repeat right now (he wrote the song for Britney Spears, but she thankfully rejected it as it’s perfect by Har Mar himself). The live show is beyond entertaining, with Har Mar pseudo-breakdancing around the stage and striping down to his tighty whiteys.

Seriously, these shows promise to be entertaining, energetic and fun – a night or two to let loose and dance your ass off!
