November’s InDigest 1207 Reading Series

November 4, 2009

My favorite monthly reading series is back already. Ah, how time flies. Tonight, InDigest 1207 Reading Series presents:

James Hannaham, author, or writer, or something like that. Perhaps novelist, but also journalist, teacher, and occasional performer…

Ricardo Alberto Maldonado was born and raised in Puerto Rico. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Denver Quarterly, Boston Review, The Blue Letter, and Bateau. He works at the Unterberg Poetry Center at the 92nd Street Y.

I love these events because they introduce me not only to the readers and their work, but to additional works by authors that have inspired the featured readers. Each reader is asked to read from a work that has inspired them or made them think in a new way – it’s all about the dialogue within the arts with InDigest – and these works are often thought-provoking, inspiring, funny and always insightful. I talked to Founding Editor, Dustin Luke Nelson, about the series last month.

If you haven’t been, I highly recommend it. If you have, I’m sure you’re already convinced to attend again. Say hi to Dustin Luke Nelson and Ashleigh Lambert, the hosts and former Minnesotans who now live in NYC.

Oh, and they just launched the redesign of their online magazine, InDigest Magazine, and it’s got a sleek, readable new look!
