Rhymesayers representin’ in NYC this week

November 24, 2009

Two artists from Minneapolis indie hip hop label Rhymesayers Entertainment are playing shows in NYC this week.

P.O.S. is in town with the PacSun tour Tuesday night at Irving Plaza. Friday night, Eyedea & Abilities will perform at the new Knitting Factory in Brooklyn with the band Themselves.

Rhymesayers’ roster of artists is impressive, including these artists, Atmosphere, Brother Ali and more. I recall the scene getting going back when I was attending the “U” in the last 90’s, hearing Slug and Atmosphere on Radio K, the college radio station. It wasn’t until I moved away from Mpls that I realized the collective was getting well-deserved nation-wide attention for their creative and ground-breaking hip hop sounds. And they’re still at it, expanding their reach, scope and talent.

You’ve got two chances to see some of their amazing talent this week in NYC, so check it out!
